2007 Avanti Hammer Disc
Jan 7th, 2008 by Brian
Its been a while (8 years) since Robyn and I have been mountain biking. While we did buy bikes for the boys, we have until now been without wheels.
Saw a good deal on some end of season Avanti Hammer Disc at the local Avanti dealer, so decided to take the plunge and get some wheels for both of us.
Compared to previous bikes we have owned, these are great to ride. The disk breaks, good quality gearing and lightweight components make it really easy to take on the hills.
I’ve added a few extra’s to the bike shown (mine). Added Keywin pedals. They can be used both with ordinary and SPD shoes. Also added climbing bars. Found these added significantly to comfort for road riding and made hill climbing a lot easier.

I had a Diamond Back mountain bike 15 years ago. I think I paid something liek $800 for it. I have to admit I really used it and enjoyed it. Now it’s just the stairmaster and elliptical.
Its amazing how much moutain bikes have changed in the past 8 years
I use my bike as a commuter and have been thinking about buying a roadbike for longer trips. The one time that I tried mountain biking, I hated it, because I found it to be very hard. But, maybe this was because I had the wrong kind of bike!! I should probably make sure I have a good bike and give it another go. It is fabulous exercise. Y’all have fun with the new bikes!
I found this handy around my area. Because the roads go from smooth highway to bad quality busy streets. This bike has held up well for me. And anyone im similar situations should get one to. Nice Post.

even in London mountain bikes rule mainly because of all the pot holes in the roads
The bike looks awesome. I would love to demo it on a trail.
man, if you think the potholes in London are bad you should see Staten Island, NY. I think even a mountain bike wouldn’t do the trick.
Family Guyif your potholes are worse than ours I feel really sorry you. What makes me angry is that the local councils say the Government should pay for road repairs and Vice Versa. Currently in the UK more money is being spent on compensation (for victims of potholes) than sorting out the roads its a crazy world we live in
Bike is good looking :)
Very good bicycle!
Me and my boyfriend were interested in starting biking last summer, but we never did actually do it. He had loved to mountain bike as a kid and we had planned to go together, now that I finally got my bike we should be able to this summer.
awesome bike. do they have more for sale?
If you have not rode in awhile then you will really enjoy those disk brakes!! I rode for years, and then stopped riding. I got another mtn bike over a year ago, and I have really been pleased with the performacne of the newer brakes. They work so much better when they are wet.
I hadn’t been riding for years and this weekend went out and bought an Avanti Hammer. First ride this morning and really enjoyed 90 mins in the saddle along the local coastal tracks here in Wellington. Lots of more fun in store.
A little while back the page rank on one of our sites was reduced from 4 to 3. Not a huge deal as did not seem that SERPs were affected. We had hoped the PR would move up to 5 because of all the new links we had garnered, but perhaps we’d lost some also. Or perhaps we’d been penalized along with a number of other sites who saw an artifical drop. There was no way to tell and no point in losing too much sleep over it. Some time after, our article directory, was shut down by the hosting company for using too much MSQL resources
