Mothers Day Gifts
May 13th, 2007 by Brian
With Mother’s day gone in most parts of the world and almost gone in others those that missed or almost missed the boat can still send their mum something special for mothers day.
Check-out this post over at Mashable . They have a range of ideas including online gift cards, scrap books, mum’s domain name, her web page, ecards and more.
Another option is to arrange for her favorite song to be setup as a ringtone on her cell. (your need to sneak her phone for a couple of minutes though !)
Just in case you want to be very sure not to miss Mother’s day next year, try using Google Calendar which allows you to enter an event (mother’s day) then have a reminder text sent to your phone a few days before.

Fortunately for me my mom’s birthday and mother’s day always fall in the same week, and sometimes on the same day! That way I never forget mother’s day or her birthday. Lucky me.
By the way, where are you from? I’m curious to interact with bloggers from other countries.
My siblings and I always just hook our mom up with a picture of ourselves… makes her cry every year!!!
I LOVE Google calendar. It’s the best organization tool out there.
@ LIsa - I use Yahoo calendar to remember birthdays etc because it sends me an email prior to the date so I can remember to buy a present! :(
Mother’s Day confuses the heck out of me. My mother lives in England and that means a mother’s day in March. My 3 elder kids’ mother lives in Switzerland……I never remember when that one is. My youngest kid’s mom lives in Thailand….that is in August. Google Calendar can help me but not save me! Incidentally, and a nice touch I think, Thai Mothers and Fathers Day are linked to the King and Queen’s birthdays. This is very important to the Thais because their majesties are revered as the father and mother of the nation. It also means that no Thai will EVER forget mothers and fathers day!
I should’ve read this entry before mother’s day. Oh well, at least I’ll have many good gift ideas next year. Thanks for sharing! :)
I always get stumped when I think about what to give my mom on Mother’s Day. But when it comes to crunch time, I usually end up with something awesome. Thanks for the suggestions though, will keep them in mind for next year.
My mother unfortunately passed on, but I have many other special ladies in my life I’ve looked up to since then. Instead of cards like they’ve always received, I wrote them all short but personal text messages on their phones… They all thought that was the neatest thing, because no one had ever sent them a text before…
Hey this is way belated but…my mom loves
to be taken out for dinner…
People love food.
Even moms!
Mashable sounds like a godsend, way too much stress finding a mother’s day gift this year!
I’ve forgot about mother day this year… She almost killed me!
That Google reminder could save me in many cases….
I have to say that this is a great point. I remembered my Dad on Father’s Day, but I forgot his birthday five days later. How horrible is that?!
I can never forget mother’s day, but I don’t pay so much attention on these days, because one can show affection and make presents to their mums every day of the year. Nice site! regards!
It was a wonderful mother’s day.We went out for dinner which was wonderful.
Great Post
I had a hard time finding gift to my mom last Mother’s Day and I ended up with her favorite menu. I cooked for her. Not bad! But thank you so much for the suggestions and ideas you’ve mentioned in your blog. At least by this time I have resources to look for.
This year’s Mother’s day, I gave my Mom a greeting card that I personally made. I kissed and her so tight. I love my Mom and she deserves to be loved! ^_^
It is the most precious day in my life. I spend the whole day with my mom. I love her more than anything.
The only bond I have in this world other than considering my philosophy is my MOTHER. Though I fight with her sometimes on some issues, she is so patient to manage and handle things well. I always feel worth and emotional while I discuss on the topic- Mother. My comment may be too lengthy if I start saying like this…So let me stop here by wishing a happy returns of the day to all mothers.
I’ve setup a reminder in my Outlook calendar for all the most important dates including my moms birthday and mothers day. That way I never forget! The one thing I’ve learned along the way is that simply spending time with my mom is the best gift I could give her!
I checked out the site and found some things to get for my moms birthday, which is on the fourth of July. She can be impossible to shop for sometimes so it’s great to find new resources.
