The Eclectolink Experiment
Jul 21st, 2007 by Brian
This post is an experiment to test the effectiveness of the eclectolink experiment over at Swollen Pickles .
The idea is one adapted from the successful Andy Coates Viralink experiment. This post on Andys site explains how Viralink can produce a very high number of links very quickly.
In this variation, instead of using asterisks, Swollen Pickles has chosen words for the links. This will give a better result as blogs will rate higher for their selected keyword as well as getting some page rank from the linking process.
Most of the words chosen will give good traffic volumes if your site rates highly for them.
The words were generated at random using an online random word generator. Hopefully this will encourage a wide range of websites to take part.
Participating is easy. Just follow the instructions below:

Below is a matrix of 100 randomly generated words, I have already added a link to my blog to one of the random words. All you need to do is copy and paste the matrix into your blog and add your own link to one of the other vacant words, and then tell others to do exactly the same!

Thanks for giving it a shot Brian. I’ve added you to the matrix over on my original post.
Good luck!
sounds like a nice experiment, interesting to follow how it progress
Don’t just watch Comfy! Get involved!!!
I have heard of the viralink experiment and I know it worked really well. This one seems better, though. Great idea!
mmh I dunno…google might think this is spam :/
It’s a good idea. It’s another variation of the “viral linking” idea.
Viral linking is a great way to pick up some new traffic and incoming links, in a very short time.
I don’ t think Google would think of it as spam although the links might not count for much coming from unrelated sites with unfocused link text.
Everytime I come on your blog, I find
great information. I really wanted to say that today ’cause I never have
the time to comment. So I stopped by and left you a praise comment fast.
Keep up the good work.
All you do here always serve me in a way or another in my blogging
activity. If you want to know, I currently make $1,500 to $3,000 every
month since september 2006, and I operate a blog called blogadollar dot
com wich is about "make a lot of
real money online" and aims to be a REAL-LIFE case study, where I
reveal all day after day. If you want to see it, go to blogadollar dot com.
Please tell me, what is the result with this kind of strategy? This look like multi level exchange link.
interesting experiment…. i will study and join later.
btw added you to my technorati favs and added your RSS feed could you return favour?
very interessant experiment.
Jew asked how it was going.
Well only two links showing up so far in Yahoo.
http://www.creativemediaplayers.com/
and the Swollen Pickles original link
I’m always skeptical of this type of thing. Links are not all created equal…and some will even do more harm than good.
However, if it works for ya, more power to you!
Yeah I don’t think this actually works… maybe on Yahoo, but there’s no way Google values this sort of thing, especially if the link text is unrelated to what your blog is about. Any link you get will help you rank well for those words, but probably not for what you want to rank well for.
If every word gets picked, your link will end up in a giant list of links randomly placed. It ends up looking like a link farm which is generally ignored by the search engines.
Better to just trade blogroll listings
